How to Calculate a Return Gift Budget for 20, 30 or 50 Kids

The cake quote was locked. The return-gift number was still "around two thousand". After a class of 32, I started writing the sum on paper before I opened the catalogue. How to calculate a return gift budget is arithmetic: heads x SKU price, plus spare units, plus packing, plus courier - not a manners lecture. Culture and "how much is polite" live in birthday return gift etiquette. This page is the calculator.

The formula (pin this before you shop)

Gift line = (confirmed child guests + extras) x live SKU INR + (party bags x same count) + courier shown at checkout.

Write it as four boxes:

  1. Heads. Confirmed children who get a bag. Freeze this with how many return gifts do you need - guests + siblings + cousin buffer + damage spares. Do not add buffers twice.
  2. SKU. One product. Open the live TemptingKart page. Use today's rupee, not last year's screenshot.
  3. Packing. Printed bags if the hero is not already a pouch. Same count as heads.
  4. Courier. The estimate and shipping line at checkout for your pin. Order on temptingkart.com for pan-India delivery, or visit the Mayuri Nagar store in Miyapur, Hyderabad. Hyderabad is usually 1-2 days; pan-India 4-7 days. Miyapur walk-in is an option if you are local.

Optional fifth box: peel-and-tag labour is free if you do it at home. Do not invent a print-MOQ branding cost. A card or sleeve plus shop@temptingkart.com if you need help - no promised logo engraving.

Worked example: 20 kids

Home party. Confirmed 16 classmates + 2 siblings + 2 spares = 20 heads.

If P is near Rs. 90 and B is a small add-on, you are in the under Rs. 100 world: return gifts under Rs. 100. If you can stretch, compare under Rs. 200 - a sports water bottle x 20 is a different party. Say the total out loud before you pay. Rs. 2,000 of kits is not Rs. 4,000 of bottles.

Worked example: 30 kids

Section plus home overflow. Start with section strength if gifts go to the whole class. Example: 28 in the section + 2 teacher-cupboard spares = 30. Or 24 home kids + 3 cousins + 3 spares = 30. Write which list you mean. Two events are two line items.

  • Hero: 6-piece school kit x 30, or the combo of 4 if that is the live cheaper set.
  • Bags x 30.
  • No third "maybe" product. A filler x 30 is a new line; add it only if 30P + 30B + 30F + courier still fits the cap you told yourself.

Classroom-friendly kits sit in the under Rs. 100 and under Rs. 300 bands depending on bottles versus stationery. The maths does not care about theme. Theme is a later filter.

Worked example: 50 kids

Hall, society function, or two sections. Heads = 50 + 5 spare = 55 units of one SKU. That spare percentage is how you survive a late cousin and a crushed box. A full packing plan: return gifts for 50 kids.

Box 50-kid example What to write
Heads 50 guests + 5 spare 55
SKU Combo, pouch or colouring board - live P 55 x P
Packing Party bags x 55 if needed 55 x B
Courier Checkout for your pin: Hyderabad 1-2 days, pan-India 4-7 days C
Total Say it before pay 55P + 55B + C

At 50 heads, even a Rs. 10 miss on the listing is Rs. 550. Confirm INR. If P has climbed into another band, change SKU for everyone - do not mix old cheap stock with new dear stock in one photo.

What not to hide in the sum

  • Do not forget courier because "it might be free". Read checkout.
  • Do not forget bags and then buy them at 9 p.m. from a grocer. That is a second unplanned line.
  • Do not add personalisation as a catalogue cost. Tags at home are the honest extra.
  • Do not treat etiquette percentages (5-10% of the party) as a substitute for this formula. Manners cap the ambition; maths fills the cart.

Place one order 4-7 days before the date pan-India (1-2 days in Hyderabad). Changing quantity three times is how you pay courier twice.

Frequently asked questions

What is the simple formula for a return gift budget?

Heads (guests plus extras) times live SKU price, plus the same count of party bags if needed, plus the courier line at checkout. Write four boxes. Confirm INR on the product page before you multiply.

How many extras should I add before I multiply?

Use the how-many checklist: confirmed children, siblings who will take a bag, a cousin buffer, and two damage spares - or about 5 extra on a 50-kid list. Do not add buffers twice. Leftovers are cheaper than a short door.

Is this the same as return-gift etiquette?

No. Etiquette is what is polite to spend and how to hand bags. This page is rupee arithmetic. Use both: manners set a cap, maths fills the cart with one SKU.

Should I include courier in the per-child number?

Include it in the total. You can divide courier by heads if you want a per-child landed cost. Do not pretend shipping is zero because the order shipped. Read the checkout estimate for your pin.

What if the SKU price moves after I planned Rs. 90 x 30?

Recalculate. If the listing has left your band, change the SKU for everyone or climb to the next published band (under Rs. 100, Rs. 200 or Rs. 300). Do not mix two prices in one crate to "save the plan".

Write heads, live SKU, bags and courier before you fall in love with a theme. That is how a 20-, 30- or 50-kid budget stays a number you can defend - then order one TemptingKart product and order 1-2 days ahead for Hyderabad, or 4-7 days pan-India.
